1. Holika Puja marks the victory of good over evil forces. Holika was the sister of king Hiranyakashyup and aunt of Prahlad. She was requested by his brother to kill him with the special clock that prevented her from getting burnt by fire.
2. Lord Vishnu intervened and a gust of wind blew the clock as the fire roared, from Holika to Prahlad and Vishnu saved him.
3. The above story has many variations to it as per the geographical location for Holika’s death and is also a testament to the deep roots of bhakti culture in India.
4. It is done on the night before Holi. A priest is called to perform the Holika Puja as per Vedic standards.
