It is believed that the Mundan ceremony, or shaving of the child’s head, will cleanse the remaining karmas from past lives and give the child a fresh start, freeing them from the burdens of past karmic debts. The child's hair is then offered to Ganga ji, who will bless the child on their journey ahead in this physical realm. Hair from the child's Mundan is mixed with wheat flour and offered to fish in the form of wheat balls. It is also believed that fish bless the child and symbolise the interconnectedness of man and nature.
