Is it necessary to leave a Shikha (tuft) during Mundan?
Leaving a shikha or tuft during the Mundan Sanskar is not compulsory. It entirely depends on the family's beliefs, culture, and traditions. Currently, it has become a custom mainly among Brahmins, but historically, everyone used to leave a tuft during the Mundan because it holds more spiritual than religious significance.
